What Hacker News says?
True, they are not. The opt-out analytics is not allowed and they are sending the data to 3rd party (google) without user consent. I could also argue about some minor things, but allowing google to track users without consent is a major breach (but they can also simply fix it by using for instance piwik). https://techblog.bozho.net/tracking-cookies-gdpr/

HN discussionCompliance is trivial and involves steps that are already best-practices anyway. You won't need to split any atoms. https://techblog.bozho.net/gdpr-practical-guide-developers/ The penalty isn't meant to be something you afford. It's a penalty. (It's a feature, not a bug.) I'm having a really hard time not being sarcastic right now but compliance with the law might also end up being an economical option worth looking…

HN discussion> but I have never seen anybody complain that "I switched to logback and slf4j and my jndi substitutions stopped working." SLF4J was created to replace Apache Commons Logging and Logback was created to replace Log4j 1.x . Both were created Ceki Gülcü, the original author of Log4j 1.x [1]. Logback came out in 2006. The first beta version of Log4j 2.x was only released 6 years later in 2012, and the JNDI lookup featur…

HN discussionThe GDPR states you can only offer opt in and NOT opt out. This is not an opt in method, no matter how Facebook spins it. I hope the EU pulls them on this :) Going by http://techblog.bozho.net/gdpr-practical-guide-developers/ anyway

HN discussion> GDPR will very soon start to be used by corrupt politicians and other criminals who want "to be forgotten" for their misdeeds GDPR isn't the right to be forgotten, it's mainly about ownership of customer data, consent & privacy. You can have a look at this developer guide: https://techblog.bozho.net/gdpr-practical-guide-developers/ for what it means as a developer.

HN discussionI always find funny how the IT community in the country decides who to vote for or whether to vote at all. But to address your concerns, although I don't understand how the technicalities around someone's personal blog relate to what kind of a politician they'll be (as opposed to... idk... its 10+ years of content for example): 1. HN discussionI found F# really good at with this -> "wrap around the idiosyncrasies of the underlying imperative". In the video Paul Phillips elaborates on many subject much better than I could ever do. I also found the .net ecosystem libraries better, even though there are fewer libraries available. HN discussionI was surprised the other day when I was testing the bitcoin integration for a project of mine (here's a how-to: http://techblog.bozho.net/?p=1114 ), that the price is so high. I bought my bitcoin a couple of months ago at 10 times lower prices, and it was a pleasant surprise.

HN discussionYou can get some motivating stuff done even without changing the field. Specializing in something cool and strange is fine, but as someone mentioned - there will probably be a 95% repetitive task there as well. While staying at your current industry segment, you can still do interesting stuff: I've discussed that here http://techblog.bozho.net/?p=1063
