Python and Emacs afficionado. I built dreamcoder.ai, it's a coding harness for people tired of squinting at terminal windows and want a real UI without any compromises. It runs in your browser on your hardware. It has a tiling window manager, proper keyboard support, and oodles of quality of life features for those of us who runs dozens or hundreds of agents! I am also the author of "Mastering Emacs" book and blog - see masteringemacs.org I write a lot of (mostly emacs lisp) open source here: h…

Indeed, I meant the emacs shell. https://www.masteringemacs.org/article/complete-guide-master... has a good overview in the section regarding the Plan 9 Smart Shell. I ultimately just didn't find I used it much. If i am iterating, org-mode with shell sources fits a bit more natural for me. Edit: and to be clear, I meant specifically to have the output below the command with the command still in edit mode. Was not tr…

  13. I have the same language issue. Emacs has a native version of this feature[0] that works great in Doom. TeX mode, where you enter a backslash before the accent (c \ , => ç) is most like C-k in that it requires an explicit keypress. I usually just use one of the language-specific modes because you can then fluidly type diacritics (with modes for prefix or postfix entry) and manually rewrite c, or e’ on the rare occas…

  19. Sadly, I am not aware of any. Perhaps some articles and the book in https://www.masteringemacs.org/ . At some point, I would like to write an introduction to Emacs, Org, Notmuch and friends. Their docs are great if you have been using Emacs for a long time. But if you are a newcomer, the learning curve is really steep. And it shouldn't be like that. At their core all these are conceptually simple, easy to understand…

    > I think those arguments are sensible if you have a PhD in emacs. To get that PhD just start reading „Mastering Emacs“ by Mickey Peterson: https://www.masteringemacs.org Many people try learning by doing Emacs and it’s not a bad approach. However, I believe learning the fundamental „theory of editing“ will help you quite a lot to grasp this tool’s inherent complexity much faster. And it’s a fun read, I think.
