HN discussionI don't really care about profanity in speeches; I think the stronger argument was made by Rob Conery: I'm not opposed to swearing in presentations, or anywhere for that matter. I don't cringe when I read F-bombs nor do I care if you have the word "Fuck" embroidered on your Calvins. Swearing says more about your abilities as a speaker then it does your content... that's the problem. http://wekeroad.com/2011/11/08/so…

HN discussionLol, love that vid. :) Actually I happened to have gone down the same road as Rob Conery: http://wekeroad.com/building-things/tekpub-a-six-pack-and-yo... Except in my case, since I was learning as I went, I didn't have time to figure out why the less-mature technologies weren't working just right. Or I'd look at a problem and see it solved nicely for relational DBs, but still needing some manual work to make it work…

HN discussionUgh, `dynamic` doesn't provide the benefits of a dynamically typed language by long, long way, and yes I've used it extensively. But thanks for the downvote all the same. http://wekeroad.com/2010/08/09/csharps-new-clothes/ In case you plan on skimming that and missing the details the tl;dr is that Rob, pushes `dynamic` as far as he can and it still comes up far short of the extensibility and expressiveness of Ruby c…

HN discussionI'm sure if you Google around you will fine a number of opinions on why the majority of startups don't go with .NET, but I'd say it is possible it is simply because many .NET developers love in the 'enterprise' world and are far away from the startup world most of the time. As a .NET developer I'm seeing this starting to change but it is only just starting. There are certainly some disadvantages to .NET particularly…

HN discussion>Ghost and Ospari is by no wary comparable to Wordpress. Regarding Ghost, it depends who you ask[1]. What the grand parent comment is probably referring to is the same thing Rob Conery refers to in that Ghost (in his estimation) was architected the way you would architect a large, modular PHP application.
