  5. Love Base64 encoding... for anyone looking to optimize their CSS, check out Shaun Inman's CSS Cacheer... it can automatically inline images using that encoding: http://www.shauninman.com/archive/2008/05/30/check_out_css_c... Sorry for slightly OT, but I really do love Base64...

  7. TL,DR: If PICO-8 is your highest priority, no preferable alternative exists anywhere near the RGB30's price point. The next best options are probably the TRIMUI Smart Pro or the Miyoo Mini v4, but both have serious shortcomings relative to the RGB30, including the fact that neither can run the PICO-8 binary natively, and the workarounds they employ can negatively impact performance¹ ². At any price, Android or FPGA-…

  9. layouts in CSS are easy while relationships between elements are simple. CSS is a poor solution for layouts that require complex constraints between elements that have no direct child/parent or sibling relationship. Think application layout as opposed to brochure website layout. Also, CSS is quite silly. Why do I set margin:auto when I want to horizontally center something? The tricks we all learn to muscle CSS into…

  15. I self-host an instance of https://feedafever.com/ which works nicely with https://www.reeder.ch/ on my iPhone and Mac at home and also quite nicely online (at work, but psst, don't tell anyone). Fever is unsupported, though [1], but it's still working nicely. Once it stops working, I'll switch to something that's supported by Reeder, which is an indispensable piece of software for me. 17. The author has been weirdly reluctant to support new OS features, but I've been using Day-O[1] for years, it has a customizable time format[2] that could easily do 8601 [1] https://shauninman.com/archive/2016/10/20/day_o_2_mac_menu_b... [2] https://shauninman.com/day-o/datetime.html

  27. This is a nice little starter intro to CSS for forms. To be really useful, it'd have to demo some of the harder elements to style, the hardest being inputs for uploading files. I haven't seen a technique yet that doesn't require some javascript to compensate for browser quirks: http://www.shauninman.com/archive/2007/09/10/styling_file_in...
