  3. Curious, did you really find that microservices helped? The downsides can be so tremendous -- I wonder if nubank would have done better to services in the low digit range. (context: my thoughts on it -> https://stopa.io/post/236 )

  11. It reminds me of this [0] post from a few months back which implements something more or less similar using js arrays as a kind of sexp. I’m working with a system that relies extensively on logic implemented as json structures. We’re not using this lib, I found it to be difficult to follow and more difficult to debug. Ymmv, but I’d definitely think hard before leaning on something like this. [0] https://stopa.io/pos…

  13. I posted this in another thread, but it seems relevant to what you are looking for: https://stopa.io/post/265 It walks through the process of building a Lisp in JSON and the associated parser in JavaScript. It could be a good starting point to build out a cross-platform approach to sending logic over the wire.

  17. Hmmm ... I thought a lot about this ie. whether to include the HN link. Problem is ... when I write the newsletter, most HN links are empty or only have one or two comments. Later on, the story reaches the front page on HN but it's a new HN link. So if I include the 'original' HN link, it's not useful to the reader, and may even mislead them into thinking there was insignificant HN discussion. For example, I linked…

  21. You can have that. Here is a guide showing how to do it on an iOS device https://stopa.io/post/297 I think something similar exists for Android but you'll need to do some research. iOS also has another way to dumb down the phone by limiting which apps are available: https://www.tomsguide.com/phones/apple-buried-a-perfect-dumb...

  25. There was this thread a while back: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25115746 (direct link: https://stopa.io/post/269 ) As someone with limited math knowledge, I found it quite readable and understandable though I can't vouch for its accuracy. I would say, though, when talking about Godel, there is significant disagreement over what his work implies about the world or about the status of truth statements (if any…
